Even if you’ve conquered them with confidence in day-to-day situations, insecurities can still pop up for out-of-the-ordinary events. Take, for example, what is likely a common scenario for anxiety surrounding fears of rejection: throwing a party and worrying that it won’t be fun, or even worse not being sure who, if anyone, will show up.
Here’s my suggestion for tackling this: start the party by yourself. Before anyone shows up, pour yourself a glass of whatever refreshing beverage you plan to drink that night, alcoholic or otherwise. Turn the music on and dance by yourself. Munch on the snacks a bit before guests arrive to devour their share. Then when somebody does arrive you won’t have to start the party – that guest will merely be joining a party that’s already going on.
