I finally got a smart phone with a data plan. It goes in line with how I didn’t get any cell phone until 2006, and didn’t start texting until three or four years later. But I fought hard for this one, as I’m trapped in a family plan reigned over by a centralized authority, and it’s hard enough to convince him to let me pay my part of the bill.
I’m in a honeymoon phase. It’s stealing my attention away from other people at social gatherings and I can’t help but play with it at work. (I assure you that’s only when there’s no immediate work to do.) I’ve become the Gen-Y-with-poor-social-skills stereotype I’ve fought so hard, insisting that it doesn’t reflect my generation. But I trust I will get back to normal soon.
